Tucson, AZ (January 5, 2026) – A tragic multi-vehicle collision at a busy Tucson intersection claimed the life of a young child and left several other people with serious injuries. The crash occurred in the 5300 block of E Golf Links Rd near S Craycroft Rd during the evening hours on January 2.
According to initial reports, a 27-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Corolla when the vehicle entered the path of oncoming traffic and collided with a Toyota Camry and a Volkswagen Jetta. Tucson Fire and Rescue crews, along with Tucson Police Department officers, arrived shortly after the crash was reported at approximately 7:45 p.m. Paramedics worked to provide emergency medical care to those involved before transporting multiple victims to area hospitals.
Authorities stated that the driver of the Corolla and her four children sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision and were taken to Banner University Medical Center for treatment. One of the children, a 4-year-old boy, later died at the hospital as a result of the injuries suffered in the crash. The driver of the Camry and a passenger traveling in that vehicle were also hospitalized with serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the Volkswagen was treated for less severe injuries following the incident.
In the aftermath of the collision, E Golf Links Rd was closed between S Craycroft Rd and S Swan Rd for an extended period as investigators documented the scene and crews worked to clear damaged vehicles from the roadway. Traffic disruptions affected the surrounding area while emergency personnel remained on site.
