Petersburg, VA (January 6, 2026) – A morning crash on Interstate 95 in Petersburg left one person injured and temporarily impacted traffic flow on January 4.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 7:39 a.m. to the northbound lanes of I-95 just before Exit 52. The accident occurred on January 4 and involved at least two vehicles, including a silver sedan and a minivan, both located in active travel lanes. Upon arrival, units from Petersburg Fire/Rescue and Medic 12 located one individual suffering from a reported hand injury.
Virginia State Police were also on scene to assist with traffic control and to begin a collision investigation. Engine crews provided lane blocks in the area while medical personnel evaluated and treated the injured individual. The damage to the vehicles was described as moderate, and one vehicle was found in the middle of the highway, increasing the hazard to passing traffic.
At this time, the exact cause of the crash remains under review, and authorities have not released further details on the severity of the injury or whether hospital transport was required.
