San Antonio, TX (January 8, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle crash on the city’s northwest side left a child and two adults injured Wednesday afternoon, following a collision authorities say involved a speeding driver suspected of intoxication. The crash occurred at approximately 3:54 p.m. in the area of Culebra Rd and Arcadia Creek.
According to San Antonio police, the crash unfolded when a driver traveling at a high rate of speed rear-ended another vehicle moving in the same direction. That initial impact caused the speeding driver to lose control, leading to a head-on collision with a second car.
Emergency responders from San Antonio Fire Department arrived quickly and provided immediate care to the victims. The driver believed responsible for the crash, a 28-year-old woman, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the second vehicle also sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. A 6-year-old child who was in one of the vehicles was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators noted that the woman suspected of causing the crash displayed signs of intoxication during the on-scene evaluation. She was later confirmed to be under the influence and has since been charged with intoxication assault.
Authorities continue to investigate the full circumstances of the crash. Additional information may be released as the case progresses.
Our thoughts are with the child and both adults who were injured in this devastating incident.
