How Do Multi-Vehicle Crashes Increase Injury Risk?
Crashes involving multiple vehicles can increase the likelihood of injuries due to the complexity of the impact. When more than two vehicles are involved, the chances of secondary collisions rise, which can lead to additional damage and harm beyond the initial crash.
These incidents often occur in areas with steady traffic flow, where drivers may not have enough time to react to sudden stops or changes ahead. Chain-reaction impacts can affect occupants from multiple directions, increasing the potential for injury.
Even when there is no entrapment, victims may still suffer from a range of injuries due to the force and unpredictability of the collisions. Maintaining safe following distances and staying alert in traffic can help reduce the risk of multi-vehicle crashes.
