Decatur, AL (January 8, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision near the Phillips 66 station on Gordon Terry Parkway left two people injured early Tuesday morning, prompting a significant emergency response.
The crash occurred around 4:34 a.m. on Gordon Terry Pkwy, where witnesses and responders described a heavy-impact collision that temporarily blocked most of the roadway. The early morning crash involved two vehicles and resulted in visible damage to both, with debris scattered across the lanes.
Emergency crews from Decatur Fire and Rescue and Decatur Morgan EMS arrived shortly after the incident was reported. Two individuals were found injured: a female occupant complaining of chest and stomach pain, and a male suffering from head and shoulder injuries. Due to the condition of both victims, two ambulances were dispatched to provide immediate transport to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Responders worked swiftly to assess the scene, treat the injured, and manage the near-total traffic obstruction. Roadway access was limited for a period as wreckage was cleared and investigators documented the crash. The Decatur Police Department has launched an investigation into what led to the collision, including the possibility of early morning fatigue, limited visibility, or other contributing factors.
We extend our thoughts to those injured and hope for their full and speedy recovery.
