Taney, MO (January 9, 2026) – A collision involving a box truck and an SUV led to injuries and major disruptions along MO-76 near Scenic Dr early on Thursday morning in Taney County.
The crash was reported at approximately 7:03 a.m. as a 2007 Chevrolet T7500 box truck traveling eastbound began sliding on a wet curve. According to investigators, the truck lost control and crossed over the center line, striking a westbound 2023 Kia Sorento. The force of the impact caused the box truck to veer off the right side of the roadway, where it ultimately overturned.
Emergency medical services responded quickly, attending to both drivers who sustained injuries in the crash. The 30-year-old man driving the box truck, a resident of Phoenix, AR, suffered moderate injuries and was transported by EMS to Cox Branson for further treatment. The 37-year-old woman operating the Kia, from Forsyth, MO, sustained minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to the same facility.
Both vehicles were totaled and had to be removed from the scene by local towing services. Traffic was temporarily disrupted while crews worked to clear the area and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to officials, the crash is believed to have been triggered by slick roadway conditions due to early morning moisture. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, led by Tpr J.S. Schwartz, is continuing its investigation to confirm the contributing factors in the crash.
Our hearts go out to those injured in this accident, and we wish them both a swift and complete recovery.
