Greenville, NC (January 10, 2026) – A woman was injured on Friday afternoon after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing East 10th Street at the intersection with College Hill Drive, located in the heart of East Carolina University’s campus.
The incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. on January 9. According to Greenville Police, the woman was walking through a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a westbound pickup truck. Multiple emergency responders arrived quickly and began treating the victim, who was found lying near a concrete median in the center of the street.
Paramedics provided immediate medical care at the scene and transported the victim for further treatment. The extent of her injuries has not yet been publicly released.
The intersection, equipped with a stoplight and designated pedestrian crosswalks, has become a focal point of concern for students and residents. ECU graduate Matthew Mantini, who regularly uses the crosswalk, expressed frustration following the crash: “It shouldn’t keep happening. When you have multiple tons of metal driving forward with force, it’s gonna do horrible things to a human body.”
Westbound lanes of East 10th Street were temporarily closed while responders secured the area, but have since reopened to traffic. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Our thoughts are with the injured woman, and we wish her a full and swift recovery.
