St. Louis, MO (January 12, 2026) – A wrong-way collision on the ramp from Interstate 270 to Interstate 64 left four people injured early on Sunday morning, with both vehicles sustaining extensive damage and requiring removal by tow services.
The incident unfolded around 12:25 a.m. when a 2013 Infiniti JX35, traveling in the wrong direction on the ramp, collided head-on with a 2024 Kia Sportage. The impact was severe, leading to the total loss of both vehicles. Law enforcement officials confirmed that the Infiniti was moving westbound against traffic, while the Kia was headed eastbound in the proper lane.
Paramedics and fire units rendered aid to multiple victims at the scene. An 18-year-old woman from St. Charles, who was a passenger in the Kia, suffered serious injuries and was transported by West County EMS and Fire Protection to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Another passenger, a 19-year-old woman from Des Peres, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the same hospital by private vehicle. The Kia’s 19-year-old male driver, a St. Louis resident, was moderately hurt and also transported privately for medical treatment.
The Infiniti’s driver, a 39-year-old man from St. Peters, sustained moderate injuries and was taken by a patrol vehicle to Mercy Hospital. Authorities noted that he was not wearing a safety device at the time of the collision.
Town & Country Police assisted at the scene, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances that led to the wrong-way entry.
