Chicago, IL (January 12, 2026) – Emergency personnel responded to a vehicle crash with injuries near the intersection of W West End Ave and N Kenton Ave, where fire crews had been on scene awaiting police assistance for over 25 minutes.
The incident was reported around 5:43 p.m. and involved at least one vehicle collision that resulted in injuries. Chicago Fire Department personnel arrived to assist the injured and began providing care while requesting police response to secure the scene and assist with traffic control. However, officials noted a delay in law enforcement arrival, which added strain to on-scene operations.
Medics evaluated several individuals at the scene, and at least one person was reportedly injured in the crash. The severity of the injuries and the number of those transported for further treatment have not yet been confirmed.
The intersection was partially blocked during emergency operations, and authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
