Omaha, NE (January 12, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision on I-80 westbound near 42nd St early on Sunday morning left at least one person injured and prompted an emergency response from Omaha Fire Rescue. The crash was reported at approximately 3:31 a.m. after a passerby spotted a gray sedan off the roadway and into a ditch.
Responders arrived swiftly to check on the occupants of both vehicles involved. Though full injury details have not been released, the crash was confirmed as a personal injury accident, indicating that at least one person required medical evaluation. Damage to at least one vehicle appeared significant, and responders worked cautiously due to low visibility in the early morning hours.
Traffic was briefly affected in the westbound lanes of I-80 as crews assisted at the scene and coordinated vehicle removal. Investigators are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether speed, fatigue, or weather may have contributed to the off-road crash.
