Los Angeles, CA (January 15, 2026) – A major crash involving multiple vehicles and an overturned SUV resulted in injuries and a full lane closure on Wednesday afternoon on the southbound I-405 just south of the Wilshire Blvd off-ramp, according to California Highway Patrol reports.
The collision was reported around 12:44 p.m. and involved an older gold SUV, a Toyota Prius, a gray Lexus sedan, and at least one black SUV. One of the SUVs reportedly crossed all lanes of traffic, struck two other vehicles, and overturned—eventually landing upright. Another black sedan was also found overturned during the response.
All lanes, including the HOV and #6 and #7 lanes, were blocked for an extended period as emergency crews responded. A SigAlert was issued for the area, with an estimated duration of at least 30 minutes. Two tow trucks were dispatched to handle multiple damaged vehicles, and paramedics treated those injured at the scene. The extent of injuries has not yet been disclosed.
Traffic was heavily impacted throughout the West Los Angeles corridor as authorities worked to clear the scene and restore flow.
An investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
