Monticello, MN (January 19, 2026) – Emergency responders were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on the MNTH 25 overpass above Interstate 94 in Monticello, resulting in one person being injured. The incident occurred at approximately 5:57 p.m. on January 18 and involved a collision between a northbound Honda Pilot and a southbound Honda Accord.
According to officials, the Honda Pilot was attempting to turn west onto I-94 from northbound MNTH 25 when it collided with the southbound Honda Accord. CentraCare Ambulance, Monticello Fire, and the Wright County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene and provided assistance.
The driver of the Honda Pilot, identified as 60-year-old Bernadette Anne Whiting of Colorado Springs, CO, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Buffalo Emergency for further evaluation. Her airbags deployed, and she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The driver and passenger of the Honda Accord, 57-year-old Laura Elena Lopez and 27-year-old Christopher Kevin Lopez, both of Monticello, were evaluated at the scene but did not require transport. Both were wearing seatbelts, and no alcohol was involved in the incident.
Authorities confirmed that airbags deployed in both vehicles and that the investigation into the collision is ongoing. We extend our well wishes to Ms. Whiting and hope for a smooth and full recovery.
