Chesterfield County, VA (January 19, 2026) – A fatal accident involving a passenger vehicle and an electric scooter is under investigation after occurring late Sunday night near Chesterfield Towne Center.
The collision was reported around 9:22 p.m. at the intersection of Midlothian Turnpike (Route 60) and Branchway Rd. Chesterfield County police officers arrived at the scene and found an unresponsive adult female lying in the roadway following the impact.
Officers immediately began rendering aid until Chesterfield Fire and Rescue personnel arrived. Paramedics then transported the woman to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. Her identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Preliminary information indicates that the electric scooter and the involved vehicle were both traveling within the active lanes of Route 60 when the collision occurred. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained at the scene, fully cooperating with investigators.
The intersection remained partially restricted for a period of time as authorities worked to document the scene and gather evidence. Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the accident, including roadway conditions and visibility at the time of the crash.
