Long Beach, CA (January 20, 2026) – A chain-reaction collision involving multiple vehicles, including a FedEx truck and two minivans, caused major traffic disruptions and injuries early Monday morning on eastbound State Route 91 at the I-710 interchange.
The crash occurred shortly after 2:00 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol logs. Initial reports indicate a vehicle was disabled in the middle lanes of SR-91, prompting a white minivan to swerve in an attempt to avoid a collision. The minivan struck another vehicle before crashing into the right-side wall. Another minivan then collided with the wreckage, leading to a pile-up involving multiple additional vehicles.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, and CHP reclassified the incident as a medical emergency with injuries. While the exact number of injured individuals has not been confirmed, multiple vehicles were blocking lanes 1 through 3, leading to temporary lane closures and significant congestion.
Tow trucks from multiple companies, including Kruger Tow and Seven Star Towing, were requested for vehicle recovery. The FedEx truck, which was initially involved, was later moved safely off the freeway and did not require further CHP assistance.
Authorities reopened the carpool and surrounding lanes after clearing the scene. The collision remains under investigation as officials work to determine the sequence of events and contributing factors.
Our thoughts are with those injured in the crash, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
