San Jose, CA (January 20, 2026) – Emergency crews responded early Monday morning to a two-vehicle collision involving a double-decker charter bus and a silver sedan near the Lelong St on-ramp to northbound State Route 87, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. near the Alma Ave on-ramp. CHP logs indicate that the crash involved a charter bus and a Hyundai sedan, with significant front-end damage reported on the smaller vehicle. The collision temporarily blocked the on-ramp and prompted multiple towing requests, including heavy- and medium-duty recovery vehicles.
Emergency medical services were requested to the scene, and at least one person was reportedly injured, though the extent of injuries has not been confirmed. Fire crews also responded to assist with the scene and traffic safety.
The on-ramp remained closed for a period while authorities worked to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow. All lanes were eventually reopened, and noise and parking complaints in the surrounding area were also addressed as part of the ongoing scene management.
CHP is continuing its investigation into the cause of the collision. Our thoughts are with those involved, and we wish a full recovery to anyone injured in this incident.
