Owasso, OK (January 20, 2026) – A tragic rollover crash late Saturday night claimed the lives of a father and son on northbound U.S. 169 in Owasso. Authorities say the single-vehicle accident occurred near the 9500 block around 11:00 p.m., drawing a response from Owasso police, fire crews, and medics.
Upon arrival, responders discovered a pickup truck on its side after it had reportedly rolled multiple times. Both occupants were ejected during the crash. The victims were identified as 43-year-old Terry Nathan Hindman of Nowata and his 18-year-old son, Jaxon Raidor Hindman of Copan.
Medics transported both individuals to a nearby hospital, but despite medical efforts, they later succumbed to their injuries. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle driving erratically and swerving prior to leaving the roadway and overturning.
In the aftermath of the crash, northbound lanes of US 169 were closed from 11:00 p.m. to approximately 3:00 a.m. as investigators worked at the scene. During the closure, a separate and dangerous incident unfolded when a driver, identified as 70-year-old Melinda Coshatt, drove through the 86th Street North roadblock. According to officers, she swerved around law enforcement and nearly struck personnel at the active scene. She was arrested shortly thereafter and faces charges of aggravated DUI.
The initial crash that killed Terry and Jaxon Hindman remains under investigation as police continue to examine the events leading up to the fatal rollover.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Hindman family during this incredibly difficult time.
