Christian, MO (January 21, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle accident north of Nixa on Tuesday afternoon resulted in one person being hospitalized with severe injuries.
The collision occurred at approximately 3:25 p.m. on January 20, along US-160, about half a mile north of Nixa in Christian County. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D, the crash involved three vehicles and began when a 2019 Buick Envision, driven by a 71-year-old woman from Springfield, failed to stop at a traffic signal.
The Buick struck a westbound 2012 Ford F-150, causing the Buick to veer off the roadway and overturn. The impact also led the Ford to collide with an eastbound 2011 Mercedes-Benz GL. All three vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Finley River Towing.
Emergency medical teams responded swiftly. The 71-year-old female driver of the Buick, who was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash, sustained serious injuries. She was transported by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for urgent treatment. The two male drivers of the Ford and Mercedes, ages 51 and 42 respectively, were reportedly uninjured and had also been wearing seatbelts.
Law enforcement officers, including Trooper K.R. Goddard, are investigating the incident further to determine all contributing factors. Traffic in the area was temporarily impacted as responders worked to clear the wreckage and assist those involved.
Our thoughts are with the injured driver and her loved ones during this difficult time. We wish her a full and swift recovery.
