Clay Co, MO (January 21, 2026) – A chain-reaction collision involving three vehicles resulted in injuries to three individuals on Tuesday afternoon along northbound I-35 near the 6-mile marker, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident unfolded at approximately 4:27 p.m. when a 2015 Nissan, driven by a 27-year-old man from Kansas City, reportedly failed to maintain a safe following distance and struck the rear of a 2023 Ford. The impact caused the Ford to skid into the path of a 2017 Toyota, leading to a secondary collision. The Ford subsequently overturned before coming to a stop.
The 36-year-old driver of the Ford, along with the 50-year-old driver and a 54-year-old passenger from the Toyota, were all transported by EMS to North Kansas City Hospital with injuries. All individuals involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The Nissan sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene. The Ford and Toyota, however, both sustained total damage and required towing—handled by Brad’s Towing and Integrity Tow, respectively.
Trooper B. C. Stark led the investigation, with assistance from multiple responding agencies, including the North Kansas City Police Department. Traffic was temporarily disrupted as emergency crews worked to clear the scene and treat the injured.
We extend our best wishes to those injured in this accident and hope for their full and speedy recovery.
