Livermore, CA (January 21, 2026) – A serious head-on accident involving two vehicles led to significant injuries for two individuals on Tuesday night along Mines Rd in Livermore.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:16 p.m. on January 20, near the 5700 block of Mines Rd. Authorities reported that two vehicles collided directly for reasons still under investigation. One of the cars caught fire as a result of the crash, while a passenger in the second vehicle was left trapped inside the wreckage.
Responding quickly, fire crews extinguished the flames while paramedics assessed the injured at the scene. One person was found unresponsive but breathing and was later reported to have sustained major trauma. A second individual suffered a broken leg due to the impact.
Traffic was halted in both directions as emergency crews worked to stabilize the situation and provide care. Mines Rd remained closed until 10:39 p.m. as authorities managed the aftermath and cleared debris from the roadway.
At this time, the California Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation to determine the cause of the crash and whether external factors such as speed, impairment, or roadway conditions played a role.
