Indio, CA (January 22, 2026) – A child suffered injuries after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Yucca Ln and Avenue 42, close to James Monroe Elementary School, just before 1:00 PM on January 22. Authorities responded promptly following reports of the incident, which occurred in a school zone during midday hours.
Initial information from California Highway Patrol dispatch indicates that the young pedestrian was hit under unclear circumstances. Emergency medical personnel from CAL FIRE and local paramedics were dispatched to the scene to provide urgent care to the injured child.
