San Diego, CA (January 22, 2026) – A 30-year-old man was injured in an industrial machinery collision near Fifth Ave in San Diego on January 21. Emergency responders were called to an urgent care facility after the man, who had been operating a tractor, was rear-ended by another large machinery vehicle traveling around 30 miles per hour.
According to medical personnel, the man was wearing a restraint at the time and struck his chest on the steering wheel. The tractor was not equipped with airbags. He complained of significant neck and lower back pain—both rated at a 7 out of 10 on the pain scale. Despite the impact, the patient showed no signs of bruising or chest trauma on secondary evaluation, and lung sounds were clear.
Vitals on scene remained stable, and the man declined stronger pain medication, receiving IV Tylenol instead. A 20-gauge line was established in his left arm, and no additional treatment was required during transport.
He was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital for further evaluation. No further details have been released regarding workplace safety conditions or whether the second vehicle’s operator remained on site.
We wish the injured worker a full and prompt recovery.
