St. Johns County, FL (January 23, 2026) – A 21-year-old man from Milwaukee was killed on Thursday night in a collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV on the northbound side of A1A near Sawgrass Village Dr, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash occurred around 10:13 p.m., temporarily shutting down all northbound lanes of A1A while emergency crews responded and conducted an on-scene investigation.
FHP reported that a 64-year-old woman driving an SUV was heading south on A1A and attempted to make a left turn into the Fountains of Ponte Vedra condominium complex. During that maneuver, the SUV crossed into the path of the northbound motorcycle.
The front of the motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the SUV, resulting in critical injuries to the rider. Paramedics rushed the young motorcyclist to a nearby hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead.
The SUV’s driver and her 70-year-old male passenger, both residents of Ponte Vedra Beach, were uninjured in the crash.
Authorities have not announced whether any citations or charges will be filed as the investigation into the fatal incident continues.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the young man who lost his life in this tragic collision.
