St. Louis, MO (January 23, 2026) – Two women sustained injuries late on Wednesday night following a violent two-vehicle accident at the interchange where Missouri 180 passes under Interstate 170 in St. Louis, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 11:12 p.m. on January 21. Investigators say a 2020 BMW 228i, driven by a 22-year-old woman from St. Louis, was exiting southbound I-170 when it veered off the roadway, traveled through the gore point, and went airborne over a ditch. The vehicle then crashed into a guardrail before slamming into the driver’s side of a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox traveling east on MO-180. The BMW ultimately overturned onto its driver’s side.
Units from the Community Fire Protection District responded swiftly, transporting both drivers, identified as adult females ages 22 and 54, to SSM Health DePaul Hospital for treatment of injuries. Neither was reported to be wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Doc’s Towing.
Officials from Troop C continue to investigate the cause of the collision. Further updates may follow as the inquiry progresses.
We extend our sincere well wishes to both women as they recover from this incident.
