Marlboro, NY (January 24, 2026) – A tragic head-on collision on State Route 9W near Mahoney Rd in the town of Marlboro claimed the life of one man and seriously injured another person on Friday, according to New York State Police.
The crash occurred when a Honda traveling northbound on State Route 9W struck a snowbank after leaving its lane. Authorities say the driver, 25-year-old Isaiah Towne of Montgomery, overcorrected in an attempt to re-enter the roadway and veered into the southbound lane, where he collided head-on with a Kia.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and extricated Towne from the wreckage of his vehicle. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of his injuries. The driver of the Kia, who was the only occupant in that vehicle, was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Medical Center with serious injuries and was later reported to be in stable condition.
State Police conducted a full scene investigation and worked alongside local responders to manage traffic and secure the crash site. Snowy road conditions are believed to have played a role in the initial loss of control, though a complete investigation is still underway.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Isaiah Towne during this difficult time, and we wish the surviving driver a full and steady recovery.
