St. Louis, MO (January 27, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision along the northbound lanes of I-55 just north of Meramec Bottom Rd resulted in one man being hospitalized Monday morning following a snow-related crash.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:50 a.m. on January 26, when a 2005 Dodge Dakota traveling north on I-55 lost control on the snow- and ice-covered roadway. The vehicle veered off the right side and collided with the rear end of a stationary 2008 Mazda MX-5, which had previously slid into a snowbank.
Responding officers from Troop C and multiple units, including Mehlville Fire Protection District, arrived at the scene to assist. The driver of the Mazda, a 76-year-old man from Pevely, was wearing a safety device at the time of impact and sustained injuries. He was transported to Mercy Hospital – South for further evaluation and treatment. The driver of the Dodge, a 62-year-old man from Arnold, was reportedly uninjured.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene by Miner’s Towing. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, with support from additional troopers, is handling the ongoing investigation. No citations have been issued at this time.
We extend our thoughts to the injured driver and hope for a swift recovery.
