Sandy, UT (January 27, 2026) – A man riding a scooter sustained serious injuries Monday afternoon following a collision with a Utah Transit Authority (UTA) bus at the intersection of Highland Drive and New Castle Drive, according to local authorities.
The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m., prompting a rapid response from the Sandy City Police Department and emergency medical crews. Upon arrival, officers found the male scooter rider with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition for further evaluation and care.
Mike Olsen, a spokesperson for the Sandy City Police, confirmed that although the intersection was temporarily closed for the investigation, traffic was still able to navigate around the area with minor disruptions.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision, including reviewing statements and any available surveillance footage from the UTA bus. No additional injuries were reported, and officials have not released the identities of those involved.
