Vernon, CT (January 28, 2026) – A devastating structure fire late Tuesday night completely destroyed a single-family home on Bonair Hill Rd and left one man hospitalized in serious condition. Fire crews were dispatched to the scene around 11:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a fully involved house fire.
According to Vernon Town Manager Brian Foley, the first units on scene found the residence engulfed in flames. An adult male was discovered outside the home suffering from serious medical distress. Emergency personnel quickly provided aid, and the man was transported to Rockville Hospital for further treatment. His current condition has not been publicly updated.
Several other family members were able to escape the burning home safely and are now staying with neighbors, according to Foley. No additional injuries were reported.
The house was declared a total loss. Local Red Cross teams and town officials are coordinating to provide assistance and emergency resources to the displaced family, including shelter, food, and other vital services.
The Connecticut State Fire Marshal’s Office is actively investigating the cause of the blaze. No further details about how the fire began have been released at this time.
