What Happens in Head-On Crashes on Rural Highways?
Head-on crashes often occur on two-lane highways where traffic moves in opposite directions without a physical divider. These roads can increase the risk of serious collisions if a driver crosses the center line, whether due to distraction, fatigue, or loss of control.
Impacts of this type are often severe because both vehicles are typically traveling at speed. The combined force can lead to significant damage and a higher chance of serious injury or death.
Emergency response in these situations may include air transport, especially when victims need urgent care that is not available nearby. Road conditions, visibility, and driver behavior are commonly reviewed to determine how the crash occurred.
