Pomona, CA (January 28, 2026) – A man was killed and another person injured following a fatal rollover crash Monday morning on the eastbound side of the Pomona (60) Freeway near Garey Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 8:04 a.m. on January 26. Preliminary reports indicate that a vehicle traveling eastbound overturned and slammed into a guardrail for unknown reasons. The impact caused significant damage, and emergency personnel were dispatched immediately to the scene.
One adult male occupant was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of family. A second individual sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The severity of those injuries has not been confirmed.
The crash prompted a major traffic disruption as authorities closed all eastbound lanes except the HOV lane for nearly four hours while they conducted their investigation and cleared the wreckage.
CHP is continuing to examine what caused the vehicle to overturn and crash, including whether speed, mechanical issues, or driver behavior played a role.
