Sacramento, CA (January 28, 2026) – Two juveniles were injured Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while riding their bicycles near Westlake Charter School on Mabry Dr in Sacramento, according to emergency communications.
The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m., just outside the school. Authorities confirmed that the children were involved in a traffic collision while biking, and at least one sustained a leg injury described as “bad.” Emergency crews responded to the scene, and fire personnel arrived shortly after.
One of the children was assessed for a potentially serious leg injury, while the other had minor scrapes. Both were treated at the scene by the school nurse, and no immediate medical transport was deemed necessary at the time of the report.
Officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to assist and begin an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. It has not been confirmed whether the driver remained on scene or if any citations were issued.
The incident underscores ongoing concerns about student safety in school zones during dismissal hours.
Our thoughts are with the injured children and their families, and we hope for a swift and full recovery.
