Lakeside, CA (January 29, 2026) – An elderly man riding a motorized scooter was injured Monday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Winter Gardens Blvd and Wintercrest Dr, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 3:11 p.m. on January 26, affecting the southbound lanes of Winter Gardens Blvd. CHP reports indicate that a gray sedan was traveling through the intersection when it struck the scooter rider, who was in the roadway at the time.
Following the collision, the man driving the sedan exited his vehicle to assist the injured scooter rider, who was left in the middle of the lanes after impact.
Emergency responders from Lakeside Fire arrived at the scene and transported the elderly victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital via Medic 3. His injuries were described as minor, and no other injuries were reported.
Authorities have not confirmed whether any citations were issued or if contributing factors such as visibility, distraction, or right-of-way violations were involved. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
