Why Collisions With Heavy Equipment Can Be Dangerous on Roadways
Crashes involving heavy equipment, such as logging machinery, can be especially severe due to the size and weight difference between vehicles. These machines often move more slowly than regular traffic and may not be designed for highway speeds.
Rear-end collisions with large equipment can cause significant damage, especially when smaller vehicles strike solid or elevated parts of the machinery. Visibility can also be a factor, especially at night or in areas with limited lighting.
Drivers may have less time to react when approaching slower-moving equipment. Maintaining safe following distances and staying alert can help reduce the risk of these types of crashes.
