San Bernardino, CA (January 30, 2026) – A multi-vehicle collision on the southbound lanes of I-215 just north of Mill St in San Bernardino caused major traffic disruption and left several individuals injured Friday morning. The incident was first reported around 11:30 a.m. and involved at least three vehicles, including a white semi-truck, a gray SUV, and a gray Kia Soul.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s traffic logs, the crash initially left all lanes completely blocked, creating a backup across multiple lanes (1 through 4). One of the involved vehicles, believed to be the Kia Soul, was disabled and remained in the middle lanes with visible rear axle damage. A second collision may have occurred when an unknown vehicle struck the already-disabled Kia, compounding the incident and leading authorities to classify it as a significant crash event.
Paramedics were quickly dispatched and responded to the scene to assist individuals suffering from a variety of injuries. Several victims received immediate care at the scene, while others were transported to nearby hospitals for further medical attention. The full extent of their injuries has not been publicly disclosed, but reports confirmed major vehicle damage and debris scattered across the highway.
Tow services from Tri City Tow and Statewide Tow were called in to help remove the damaged vehicles, with the road remaining partially closed for nearly an hour as crews worked to reopen the lanes. By approximately 12:18 p.m., all lanes had been cleared and traffic flow was gradually restored.
CHP officers are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the collision, including the sequence of impacts and whether speed or inattention may have played a role. Witness statements and possible surveillance footage from nearby traffic cameras will be reviewed as part of the ongoing inquiry.
We extend our sincerest thoughts to those injured and hope for a full and swift recovery for all involved.
