North Hollywood, CA (January 30, 2026) – A multi-vehicle accident involving at least five vehicles resulted in multiple injuries and significant traffic disruptions Thursday on the southbound side of the 170 Freeway near Riverside Drive in North Hollywood, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred on January 29 and led to a large-scale emergency response. Firefighters and paramedics arrived to find a pile-up stretching across multiple lanes, with one lane left open to traffic during the cleanup. The crash also caused approximately 10 gallons of oil and fuel to spill onto the roadway, further complicating recovery efforts.
At least three individuals sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals for additional medical care. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed, and no identities have been released.
Fire crews worked swiftly to clear debris and hazardous materials from the roadway. Drivers were urged to avoid the area and instead use alternate routes such as Lankershim Blvd or Laurel Canyon Blvd while crews managed the scene.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by CHP officials, who are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the multi-car pile-up.
We extend our support to those injured and hope for their full and timely recovery.
