Los Angeles, CA (January 30, 2026) – A man who was struck and killed while crossing a street in a wheelchair early Monday morning in Downtown Los Angeles has been identified as Curtis Hosea, 60, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The fatal collision occurred around 2:00 a.m. on January 26 near the intersection of Fifth and Hill streets. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Hosea was attempting to cross Hill Street in his wheelchair when he was struck by a northbound Ford F-150.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash but sadly pronounced Hosea deceased at the scene. Authorities noted that the driver of the Ford F-150 remained at the location and cooperated with investigators.
LAPD officials indicated that Hosea was believed to be experiencing homelessness at the time of the incident. It remains unclear whether visibility, timing, or other contributing factors played a role in the collision.
The investigation into the cause of the crash remains active, and no further information has been released at this time.
