St. Louis, MO (January 30, 2026) – A three-vehicle accident on I-270 on Thursday afternoon sent two drivers to the hospital with injuries, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 3:00 p.m. near the 1-mile marker of I-270, when southbound traffic slowed due to congestion. Authorities stated that a 2017 Chevrolet Impala, driven by an 82-year-old woman from St. Louis, failed to stop in time and struck the rear of a 2022 Honda Accord. The force of the impact pushed the Accord into the back of a 2022 Toyota Tacoma that was also stopped ahead.
Mehlville EMS transported the driver of the Impala and the 60-year-old male driver of the Accord, both from St. Louis, to Mercy Hospital South with injuries. The driver of the Toyota, a 59-year-old man from Imperial, was reportedly unharmed and was able to drive away from the scene.
Both the Impala and the Accord sustained moderate damage and were towed by Miners. The Tacoma sustained only minor damage and was driven from the area. The scene was managed by Corporal C. Mendez of Troop C, who confirmed all drivers were using safety restraints at the time of the collision.
We send our best wishes to the injured individuals for a swift recovery and are grateful that no serious injuries were reported.
