Cathedral City, CA (January 31, 2026) – A fatal collision claimed the life of a local man in Cathedral City. The incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. in the 35000 block of Cathedral Canyon Dr, where a high-speed rear-end crash between two vehicles resulted in one fatality.
According to the Cathedral City Police Department, a vehicle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed collided with the rear of a second vehicle. The force of the impact caused one of the vehicles to overturn. Tragically, the driver of the overturned vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and sustained fatal injuries.
Emergency responders from Cathedral City Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and attempted to assist, but the driver was pronounced dead at the location. He has been identified as 29-year-old Bryan Verduzco of Cathedral City.
The two occupants of the second vehicle involved in the crash were evaluated at the scene and were not reported to be injured.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision. No further details have been released at this time.
