Norfolk, VA (January 31, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash that occurred inside the eastbound lanes of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel on January 30 resulted in injuries and significant traffic disruption. Emergency units were dispatched in the early morning hours to manage the situation and provide medical support.
Fire and EMS crews—including an engine, ladder, and medic unit—responded via TAC 8 following reports of a collision within the tunnel. Though the exact number of people injured has not been confirmed, emergency responders treated individuals at the scene for various trauma-related complaints.
Due to the confined nature of the bridge-tunnel, traffic was heavily impacted while responders worked within limited space to secure the area, assess injuries, and remove the damaged vehicles. The tunnel was partially blocked, affecting eastbound travel during the response and investigation phases.
