Terre Haute, IN (February 1, 2026) – An accident with fatal injuries shut down a major roadway in Vigo County Saturday, after a severe motor vehicle collision was reported at US-40 and North Tabertown Road.
According to local reports, the crash occurred on February 1 near the intersection of East National Ave (US-40) and N Tabertown Rd. The collision was described as a fatal crash with injuries involving multiple victims. Emergency responders rushed to the scene and provided critical aid to those involved.
Initial information indicates that two people were killed as a result of the crash. In addition, two other victims were airlifted from the scene in very critical condition, reflecting the serious nature of the injuries sustained.
Due to the severity of the collision and the extensive emergency response, US-40 was shut down in both directions, causing significant traffic disruptions as crews worked to assist victims, secure the scene, and begin the investigative process.
