How Fires in Multi-Unit Condo Buildings Can Affect Residents
Fires in condo buildings can spread quickly due to shared walls, ceilings, and utility systems. Even when flames are limited to one unit, smoke and heat can move into nearby spaces.
Residents in multi-unit buildings may need to evacuate quickly to avoid exposure to smoke. Early detection systems, such as smoke alarms and sprinkler systems, can help reduce harm and limit damage.
Access to the affected unit is also a key factor during a fire response. Stairwells, hallways, and shared entrances must remain clear so crews can reach the source of the fire and assist anyone inside.
