Alachua County, FL (February 28, 2026) – A 41-year-old South Carolina man was killed Friday morning after being struck by an SUV while riding a bicycle in Alachua County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. on County Road 235 near its intersection with Southeast 174th Place.
Investigators reported that a 66-year-old man from Citra was driving an SUV southbound on County Road 235 when the vehicle struck a bicyclist who was traveling in the roadway. The bicyclist, identified as a 41-year-old man from Lexington, South Carolina, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the sequence of events leading up to the collision. The crash remains under active investigation.
