How Rear-End Crashes Often Occur on Busy Highways
Arterial roads near Interstate 235 just north of Central Avenue typically carry steady traffic volumes. When crashes occur in these areas, traffic flow can slow quickly while drivers react to changing conditions.
Rear-end collisions often happen when vehicles suddenly reduce speed or change lanes in front of other drivers. When traffic is moving at highway speeds, drivers behind may have little time to react, even if they attempt to brake immediately.
Damage in these incidents usually occurs to the front of one vehicle and the rear of another. Seat belt use and vehicle spacing can affect the severity of injuries, particularly when a larger vehicle is involved in the collision.
