Las Vegas, NV (April 25, 2026) – A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck in a suspected DUI hit-and-run crash early Saturday morning on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip.
According to Metro police, the incident occurred around 2:50 a.m. at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. Investigators say a Ram 2500 made a left turn onto Sahara Avenue but failed to maintain its lane, driving onto the sidewalk area.
The vehicle continued westbound and struck a bus stop near the intersection, hitting a woman and throwing her into the roadway. The driver fled the scene before officers arrived.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Authorities later located the suspect vehicle and driver north of the crash site. The driver, identified as a 38-year-old man, showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody on DUI-related charges.
The investigation remains ongoing. Our thoughts are with the injured woman as she fights to recover.
Why DUI and Hit-and-Run Crashes Are Especially Dangerous
Driving under the influence significantly impairs judgment, reaction time, and the ability to stay within a lane, increasing the likelihood of serious crashes. When drivers lose control, pedestrians and roadside areas become especially vulnerable.
Hit-and-run incidents further worsen outcomes because victims may not receive immediate aid. Delays in emergency response can increase the severity of injuries, particularly in cases involving traumatic impact.
Urban areas like the Las Vegas Strip, with heavy pedestrian traffic, require heightened awareness from drivers. Choosing not to drive under the influence and remaining at the scene after a crash are critical responsibilities that can save lives.
