Why Motorcycle Crashes Often Result in Serious Injuries
Motorcycle crashes often lead to more serious injuries than other traffic accidents because riders do not have the same level of protection as people inside passenger vehicles. Without the protective frame of a car, riders are more exposed to direct impact during a collision.
Visibility can also affect how these crashes occur. Motorcycles are smaller than most vehicles, which can make them harder for drivers to notice, especially at intersections or when changing lanes.
Speed, roadway conditions, and traffic patterns can further influence the severity of these incidents. Even at moderate speeds, the force of impact can throw a rider from the motorcycle or cause them to strike the pavement or another vehicle.
