Head-On Collisions Often Lead to Severe Injuries
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of roadway collisions because the combined speed of both vehicles greatly increases the force of impact. Even at moderate speeds, these crashes can result in serious or fatal injuries.
Two-lane highways like South Carolina Highway 90 often rely on center lines rather than physical barriers to separate opposing traffic. When a vehicle crosses into oncoming lanes, whether due to driver error, distraction, impairment, or roadway conditions, the risk of a head-on collision increases significantly.
Investigators examining these incidents typically review vehicle positioning, roadway markings, driver behavior, and environmental factors to determine how and why a vehicle crossed the center line.
