What Factors Can Contribute to Crashes Involving Large Trucks on Highways?
Crashes involving large trucks and smaller vehicles can be severe due to the difference in size and weight. Tractor-trailers require more distance to stop, which can increase the risk of a collision if traffic changes suddenly.
Highway conditions such as speed, merging traffic, and lane changes may also affect how these crashes occur. Drivers of smaller vehicles may have limited visibility around large trucks, especially near blind spots.
Impact force in these crashes can be significant, particularly at highway speeds. Safety features and proper spacing between vehicles can help reduce risk, but sudden movements or limited reaction time can still lead to serious outcomes.
