Why Head-On Collisions Often Lead to Severe Injuries
Head-on crashes are among the most serious types of roadway collisions. When two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collide, the combined force of both vehicles’ speeds greatly increases the severity of the impact.
Even with seat belts and modern safety features, occupants can experience significant trauma due to the sudden deceleration and direct impact at the front of the vehicle.
These crashes often occur when a vehicle crosses the center line due to driver distraction, fatigue, or loss of control. On two-lane roads, there may be little space for drivers to avoid an oncoming vehicle entering their lane.
Because of these factors, head-on collisions frequently lead to severe injuries or fatalities.
