Hacienda Heights, CA (March 13, 2026) – At least one person suffered major injuries following a multi-vehicle crash on Thursday morning, March 12, on eastbound State Route 60 just west of the Hacienda Blvd off-ramp in Hacienda Heights.
Emergency units were dispatched at about 8:34 a.m. after reports of a chain-reaction collision involving multiple vehicles, including a white work truck that struck the center divider. Officials later confirmed that up to six vehicles were involved, with a semi-truck possibly contributing to the incident. One vehicle was also left facing the wrong way along the right shoulder.
Authorities said at least one person was seriously injured, but no details about identities or the total number of injured individuals were released. The crash caused major traffic delays, and all lanes were temporarily closed for about 45 minutes while crews assisted victims and cleared the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
How Multi-Vehicle Crashes on Busy Freeways Often Occur
Multi-vehicle accidents on freeways often start when one vehicle suddenly slows, stops, or changes lanes, creating a chain reaction. Drivers behind may not have enough time to brake, especially in heavy traffic.
Large vehicles like semi-trucks can make these collisions more severe because of their size and weight. When a truck or work vehicle is involved, impacts may push smaller vehicles off course or into barriers.
High speeds, distracted driving, and close following distances increase the likelihood of a multi-car crash. Even minor impacts can quickly involve nearby vehicles.
Emergency responders usually work to secure the scene, provide medical care, and reopen lanes, which can take time depending on the number of vehicles and the severity of injuries.
