What Happens After a Hit-and-Run Crash Involving a Cyclist
Hit-and-run crashes occur when a driver involved in a collision leaves the scene without stopping to provide information or assistance. These incidents can involve pedestrians, cyclists, or other vehicles.
After such a crash, investigators often review nearby surveillance cameras, traffic cameras, and witness accounts to identify the vehicle involved. Damage to the suspect vehicle can also help confirm its involvement in the incident.
The position of the bicycle, debris on the roadway, and markings left by the vehicle can provide clues about how the crash occurred. These details may help determine the path of travel and actions taken before the collision.
When a suspect vehicle is located, it may be examined for evidence related to the crash. This process can help connect the vehicle to the scene and provide additional context about the incident.
