Why Are Motorcycle Accidents so Common at Intersections?
Intersections such as Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Mulholland Drive can create risk due to turning movements. When injuries are reported in Los Angeles, crews often work to stabilize traffic flow while managing the scene.
Motorcycles are smaller than most vehicles and can be harder for drivers to notice in traffic. When vehicles approach an intersection from different directions, drivers may misjudge the distance or speed of an approaching motorcycle.
Busy intersections also involve multiple actions at once, including stopping, turning, and merging. These combined movements can increase the chance of a collision when drivers and riders enter the intersection at the same time.
